  • HUNTRESS, Daniel W., In Cincinnati, at the Hotel for Invalids, June 26, Mr. Daniel W. Huntress, of Portsmouth, printer, in the 24th year of his age. Mr. Huntress as an apprentice and journeyman, spent nearly eight years in the office of the Portsmouth Journal. His deportment was uniformly upright, and in his business punctual and diligent. We recollect no occasion for rebuke during the time he was with us. The exemplification of the Christian virtues in his amiable deportment, and mild, forgiving disposition, endeared him to a large circle of friends; for all who knew him were his friends; and his early removal has brought grief home to the bosoms of many. In January last, his health being feeble, he undertook a voyage to the South, and by way of New Orleans had reached Cincinnati, where he gradually became worse. He received the attention of kind friends during his last illness, and conscious of his approaching dissolution, met it with resignation.
