CHANDLER, Senator, Obituary
The funeral of Senator Chandler took place on Thursday at Rockaway, in Morris County. It was attended by the Governor of New Jersey, a number of the members of the bar of Morris County, and a very large concourse of people. The occasion was solemn and impressive. CHRISTOPHER, Daniel, Obituary
Daniel Christopher, Esq., died at his residence in this village on Thursday morning last. He was formerly County Cler, and was for many years connected with Howell Works and Bergen Iron Works. LITTLE, A. W., Obituary
A. W. Little, an ex-editor, and formerly connected with the Clinton Leader, committed suicide on Friday afternoon last, at the residence of his mother, near Perryville, in Union Township, Hunterdon County, by shooting himself through the heart. When found, he was seated at a window, with one foot resting on the sill. A pistol was found on the floor by his side. He left a note requesting a certain minister to perform the rites of burial; and he also selected the passage of scripture upon which the discourse should be based. The 6th chapter of Job, 11th, 12th and 13th verses, was his choice. He was buried on Sunday afternoon at half-past 3, in accordance with his own request. Ezekiel Vanderbilt, of Matawan, died very suddenly on the night of the 13th inst., at his residence. Mr. V. had been unwell for several days, but nothing dangerous had been apprehended until the 13th, when his disease took an alarming form and soon terminated his life. WELLINGTON, General Joel, Obituary
Gen. Joel Wellington, of Monticello, died at Fort Fairfield, Me., on the 12trh, aged 83. He was a member of the convention that framed the constitution of the State, and was elected a member of the first legislature; was then elected Major General of the then Eighth Division. WEST, John & Family, Obituary
The Red Bank Standard, of last week, contains the following: "Mr. John West, residing near the railroad station, Middletown, may be described truly as a "man who has known affliction." Within two weeks, his five children and his wife have sickened and died from malignant scarlet fever. Mrs. West and the last child were buried on Wednesday.
