HOLLINSHEAD, David Obituary

David Hollinshead, of the firm of Lippincott & Hollinshead, of Woodstown, died recently from a wound in the ear inflicted recently when he attempted to commit suicide. He was a prominent man in Salem County. The cause of the suicide was financial difficulty. [The Bridgeton Pioneer, (Bridgeton N.J.), January 24, 1884]

STEVENS, Charles Obituary

On Wednesday of last week, the body of a man, apparently dead for a long time, was found in the field on Whitney's farm, near the depot, Glassboro. The corpse was much wasted by exposure, but was evidently that of a colored man of advanced age. Being nearly buried in snow and ice, it had to be chopped loose. On the following day the remains were recognized as Charles Stevens, who had been missing from his home at Yorktown, Salem County, since the first of last December. Coroner Justice was summoned and an inquest held. Some persons think they remember seeing Stevens in Glassboro, on the Sunday after he was missing from home; if they are correct, the body has probably been lying there six or seven weeks.
