New Jersey

Federal State and Colonial Census Records

New Jersey Federal census records: are available for census years: 1790, 1830, 1840, 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880, 1890, 1900, 1910, 1920, & 1930.

The New Jersey Federal census schedules for 1800, 1810 and 1820 were completely lost with the exception of 1800 Cumberland County and an 1820 census for Roxbury, Morris County.

1890 New Jersey Federal Census Records burned in a 1921 fire, with the exception of small remnants of Jersey City of Hudson County.

1890 Veterans and Widows schedules for New Jersey did survive the fire and can provide somewhat of a census substitute for this time period.

The State of New Jersey conducted a State census every ten years on the half-decade year between 1855 and 1915.
