John W. Mershom was an undertaker in Waverly all of his life as his father before him, John S. Mershom, had been. The prices after the names of the deceased are for "One Casket and Attendance" - the price of a funeral in those days. Coffins were sold for $30. and under, caskets for $30 and over, mostly cloth covered caskets. Black and white robes were provided also. Children's caskets were $3. to $20. Herman W. Cole joined Mr. Mershom on May 1, 1900 and has since carried on the business these many years. This book is now in his possession at the Cole Memorial Funeral Home, Clarks summit, Pennsylvania, 1950.
