The following marriages were performed by the Rev. Searing Stites, pastor of the Hamilton Square Baptist Church from April 1, 1837, to 1852, when he resigned to become pastor of the Penn's Neck Church. He died in 1854. Judging from the names of those whom he married during the years 1852-1854 a great majority resided in or near Hamilton Square. Only a few were from the vicinity of Penn's Neck.

These records were copied by Mr. Hutchinson in 1913 from the memorandum book of the Rev. Searing Stites, which was located after some difficulty in the hands of a grandson. There is no copy of these marriages in possession of the church.

Hamilton Square is located in Washington Township, Mercer County. Prior to 1838, when Mercer County was erected, it was known as Nottingham Square, and was in Nottingham Township, Burlington County.
