Chase, Jonathan T. Obituary

DEATH OF HON. JONA. T. CHASE.-- Our Conway correspondent writes that Hon. Jonathan T. Chase died at his residence in Conway on the 5th, after an illness of ten years, during two of which he was not so much as able to go out of doors. Mr. Chase was born in Sanbornton in 1794, was a lawyer by profession and was in active practice as long as his health permitted. A good share of town offices of trust and honor were held by him and for some years he was Judge of Probate for Carooll county, all the positions being filled with credit, and that probity which was second nature to him. His characteristics as a townsman, a friend, a neighbor and man won a large circle of friends who will mourn his loss deeply. His Democracy was sound and true to the last. Judge Chase leaves a wife, two sons and a daughter. His funeral ceremonies took place on the 7th. [New Hampshire Patriot, (Concord, N.H.), Sept. 14, 1870]
