May 15, 1667, "Ordered that the name of Mendon be given to the Court's grant to Qunstipauge, being the township of Qunshapage as it was laid out according to the grant of the General Court, and that Mendon be settled as a town." Mass. Rec., Vol. IV, Part 2, p. 341. Town proceedings begin 1662. First church organized 1669 (Unitarian). Friends, 1727, now extinct. Clergyman mentioned: Rev. Joseph Willard.
