Feb. 15, 1713. Resolve. The petition of those who purchased lands at a place called Towtaid, near Worcester, confirmed, "the town to be named Leicester." First (Congregational) Church organized 1718. Baptist, 1737, at Greenville. Officiating clergymen mentioned: Rev. Benjamin Forster, Rev. Benjamin Conklin.
