June 5, 1746, the district or precinct of New Sherburn to be called by the name of Douglas. Aug. 23, 1775, the district of Douglas made a town. Prov. Laws, Vol. V, p. 419. First (Congregational) Church organized 1747. Clergymen mentioned: Rev. William Phips, Rev. Isaac Stone.
