FERREL, Robert T., Obituary

Dies of His Injuries
Ax Stuck In Back Friday, Death Followed

As a result of injuries received on last Friday, while working on the new theater at the corner of Luckie and Forsyth-sts., Robert T. Ferrel, a white carpenter residing at 67 Jones-ave., died at Grady hospital shortly after 3:30 o'clock Wednesday morning. The body was removed to Harry G. Poole's undertaking establishment, and the funeral arrangements will be announced later. The accident which resulted in Ferrel's death occurred in a most peculiar manner. He was on the ground cutting a piece of timber, and as he raised the ax above his head to strike, a large beam fell from an upper story of the building and struck the ax, driving it between his shoulder blades and inflicting a deep wound. Ferrel was rushed to the hospital, where he lingered in a critical condition until his death. He leaves a wife. There is some doubt as to whether Ferrel's death was caused by the wound of by pneumonia, and an autopsy will be held Wednesday afternoon at the undertaking establishment of Harry Poole in order to ascertain the real cause. Drs. Smith and McDonald, of the Grady hospital, and Dr. J. R. Garner, representing the H. L. Stevens company, contractors, will be present at the autopsy.
