Voluntown named May, 1708. This township was granted by the Court of Connecticut to the volunteers who served in the Narragansett war. The Congregational Church was organized (first as a Presbyterian Church), Oct. 15, 1723. Rev. Samuel Dorrance, pastor, 1723-1770. The following are the marriages.
