The town of Ridgefield was incorporated October, 1709. The township was purchased of the Indians by a company of twenty-nine individuals from Norwalk and Milford, 1707-8. The First Congregational Church was organized in 1712 and is located at Ridgefield Center. The Second Congregational Church is at Ridgebury and was organized Jan. 18, 1769. The following are the marriages from the Second Church records. Rev. Samuel Camp, pastor from 1769 to 1804.
