ADLER, A., Obituary

A. Adler Died on Wednesday at Home Here; Pneumonia Claims Pioneer Business Man and Highly Respected Citizen - A. Adler, one of the pioneer settlers of Anniston, and for many years a leader in the business life of Anniston, died at his home at 1017 Leighton avenue at 5 o'clock Wednesday afternoon of pneumonia, the fatal attack having come on about ten days ago. Mr. Adler settled in Anniston and for many years conducted a flourishing business. He retired a few years ago. Mr. Adler was well and favorably known throughout the city and the announcement of his death will carry sorrow into many homes. He was 50 years of age.

The survivors are the widow, four sons and two brothers. The sons are Ben Adler, Albany, Ga.; Sam Adler, Kansas City, Mo.; Lawrence Adler, Panama Canal Zone, and Maurice Adler of Anniston, Ike Adler of Birmingham, a brother, and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Adler and Sam Adler have arrived for the funeral of their relative. Funeral services for the lamented citizen were held from the residence on Leighton avenue at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon by Rabbi Morris Newfield of Birmingham and the body was interred at Hillside cemetery. A large concourse of friends assembled for the last rites for Mr. Adler, the pallbearers being Joseph Saks, S.J. Rund, Mortimer C. Sterne, Julius Levy, Sam Schauer and A. Weinberger. BISHOP, James, Obituary

Mr. James M. Bishop, uncle of Mr. M.M. Bishop, of this city, died at his home in Dawsonville, Ga., several days ago. He was one of the oldest residents of Dawsonville and a prominent citizen. He was buried with Masonic honors. [The Anniston Star, (Anniston, AL), Jan. 11, 1900]


BRAZELTON, Mrs. W.H., Obituary

Died in Selma Yesterday Evening - Mrs. W.H. Brazelton died late yesterday afternoon at her home in Selma. She was a sister-in-law of Mrs. S.E. Noyes, of this city, who left last Thursday to attend her bedside in Selma. Mr. Noyes left this morning for Selma to attend the funeral. BRAZELTON, W.H., Obituary

W.H. Brazelton Dies in Selma - Mr. S.E. Noyes received the sad intelligence this morning that his wife's brother, Mr. W.H. Brazelton, of Selma, died this morning at his home in Selma. The death of Mr. Brazelton was a peculiarly sad one. Last Monday his wife died and today the husband breathed his last. Mr. Noyes will leave today for Selma to attend the funeral. COURIC, A.E., Obituary

Mrs. Couric Dies in Eufala - Mrs. A.E. Couric, of Eufala, died this morning at her home in that city, her death being caused by apoplexy. The sad intelligence of her demise was conveyed by a telegram this morning to Mr. Roy Couric, her son, who has been in Anniston for several months, and Mr. W.H. McKleroy, who is a nephew of Mrs. Couric. Mr. Roy Couric left today for Eufala. Since he has been in the city he has made a host of friends, who will deeply sympathize with him in his great sorrow and extreme grief at the loss of a devoted mother. Mrs. Couric was a sister of the late Hon. John M. McKelroy, and the members of the McKelroy families have the heart-felt sympathy of many friends. [The Anniston Star, (Anniston, AL), Jan. 10, 1900]


HUGHES, James, Obituary

Mr. James P. Hughes, an elderly citizen, died here on Thursday of Christmas week. He was buried in Cedartown on the following Saturday. [The Anniston Star, (Anniston, AL), Jan. 5, 1900]


LAMBERT, Theodore, Obituary

Barksdale Holds Funeral Service for Theo Lambert - Funeral services for Theodore Lambert who was killed by a train in Birmingham Monday were conducted from the residence on Pine avenue Wednesday afternoon by Prof. R.L. Barksdale of Macon, Ga. The visitor conducted the service in the absence of Rev. L.N. Claxton. Mr. A.N. McLeod returned this morning from Barbour county, where he went the first part of the week to attend the bedside of his brother, Mr. Edward McLeod, who died Wednesday and was buried Thursday. The host of friends of Messrs. C.B. and A.N. McLeod will deeply sympathize with them in their bereavement. The deceased had visited Anniston several times and had many friends and acquaintances here. MILLIGAN, Rev. Martin, Obituary

Martin Milligan Died This Week In Western Home - News of the death of Rev. Martin Milligan, formerly of this county, and which occurred early in the week in Colorado, reached Anniston friends of the former citizen Thursday. Mr. Milligan was a son of Rev. Newt Milligan, who is now residing in Birmingham, and was born and reared near Chocolocco, in this county. He is survived by his wife and five children. WALKER, Calvin Leroy, Obituary

Calvin Leroy, 3 months old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Walker died at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson Walker, Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock, after a week of intense suffering. Funeral services were held at the Coldwater Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 by Rev. R.H. Jones, of Oxford. Mr. and Mrs. Walker have the sympathy of their many friends.
